If you are seeking a skilled worker /professional visa, there is more than one route you can take:

Federal Skilled Worker and Professional Immigration
This option will result in immigration as a Skilled worker and professional to all parts of Canada except Quebec.

Federal Skilled worker and Professional Permanent Immigration is a three step process:

First step:
You must meet one of the three eligibility criteria to qualify:
· Have an offer of arranged employment
· Are legally living in Canada for one year as a temporary foreign worker or as an international student.
· Are a skilled worker with at least one year experience in one of the 38 occupations. (To find out more if you qualify for the 38 occupations fill in the Free Assessment Form.
ARRANGED EMPLOYMENT

Depending on your situation there could be different requirements for a valid offer of employment:

If you are currently working in Canada then:
· your current employer must be ready to employ you on a permanent basis once you are accepted as a Federal Skilled Worker and your temporary work permit must remain valid from the time you apply for permanent residence immigration till the Federal skilled worker immigration visa is issued.
· you must have a positive Labour Market Opinion (LMO) confirmation on your work permit from HRSDC or your employment is in one of the Arranged Employment Opinions (AEO) exempt occupations.

In all other scenarios:
You are not working in Canada and you either don’t have a work permit or your circumstances are different than the scenario above. Then, the offer of employment is valid if your future employer has made an offer to hire you on an indeterminate basis when you become a federal skilled worker and has got a positive AEO opinion from HRSDC. And, you meet the Canadian licensing or regulatory requirements for the position.

You must meet health and character requirements plus a point based assessment to qualify. You can file an application with minimum six months of work experience.

Provincial Nomination Programs (PNP)
Canada is a large and diverse country. There are ten provinces and three territories. Each province has special independent needs, especially in terms of labour. This is why provinces may initiate their own Provincial Nomination Programs (PNP’s).
